NASA Reveals Orbit Of Asteroid Could Hit Earth In Year 2032

After a few days of confirming that the asteroid 2024 YR4 has a 1-in-83 chance of colliding with Earth, the American Space Agency, and NASA shared the course of its orbit and the object’s trajectory in space.

NASA’s Center of Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) is tracking the asteroid and has already prepared its projected orbit that shows us how it could collide with Earth in 2032.

As per the latest projections, the asteroid is projected to come with 1,06,200 kilometers of the planet. More than this the researchers at NASA are studying and observing its movement to gather more data, which could lead to better projection and improved close approach distance.

What Is An Asteroid?

An Asteroid is a small, rocky object that orbits around the sun. It is primarily found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Asteroids can be of different shapes and sizes from tiny pebbles to hundreds of kilometers in diameter. Unlike planets, asteroids are irregular in shape and they have no atmosphere.

Asteroids are the remaining from the early solar system formation, which is about 4.6 billion years ago.

For some it may pose a serious threat to Earth if their orbits come close to Earth, and while the rest others study their potential resources, such as metals, ice, and water.

Nasa revealed that the asteroid could collide with Earth in December 2032. The new projections revealed that the asteroid would be traveling at an unbelievable speed of over 40,000 kilometers per hour when it came close to the planet.

Currently, NASA is tracking the objects and refining its data to get a better understanding of the asteroid collision with our Planet, whether it will hit Earth or not, or if it will be a narrow miss.

Based on the current projections, the asteroid is projected to come within 1,06,200 kilometers of the planet. However, researchers are studying thoroughly to further gather more details and data surrounding the asteroid which could lead the agency to better projection and improved close approach distance.
