Apple Launches AppleTV+ For Android On Google Play: Looking To Grow Subscriber Reach Beyond IOS.

Apple has officially launched the AppleTV+ app for Android users on the Google Play Store.

This comes at a time after Apple TV originals such as “Silo” gained a massive popularity, and the foray into Android may help to grow even more revenues.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple had already spent $20 million per episode to make season two of ‘Severance’ which premiered in January.

This is a part of Apple’s “evolving strategy” as the company is facing a huge competition from the Chinese tech giants

This is a part of Apple’s “evolving strategy” to increase the overall revenue for its services business, as the company is facing hardware downtrend, especially from Chinese tech giants who are challenging iPhone sales, a Business Insider report quoted Jacob Bourne, tech analyst at the publication’s sister company EMARKETER, as saying.

Apple’s services, which includes segments like subscriptions, iCloud, advertising, and Apple Care, grew 14% year-on-year reaching a record $26.3 billion in the first quarter of the financial year 2024-25.

Apple may still not open up about its ecosystem as there are still a number of features that are only run on the iOS devices, according to the report which cited Morningstar analyst William Kerwin.

This comes after Apple offered users to try AppleTV+ for free for a weekend just to attract new subscribers. It was only available on iOS products, Windows devices, and many smart TVS before the Android version launch.

As we all see nowadays there is a heavy competition in the streaming industry, with the AppleTV+ user base being as tenth of that of Netflix and also it costs more, according to the report which says that Apple’s subscription costs $9.99 per month in the US, while on the other hand Netflix’s standard plan with ads costs only $7.99.
