CEO Of Video-Game Company Talks About GTA 6 PC Launch, Says The Platform Is More Important Than Ever

CEO of video-gaming company Take-Two says that the company is more concerned about the PC platform than ever, teasing GTA 6’s initial launch on our computers.

There’s no doubt GTA 6 is going to be beyond huge. Grand Theft Auto 5 has seen a massive amount of success and still, now it is dominating the gaming market. Gamers are expecting that the Rockstar’s next sequel will see even bigger success. While the hypes are up, everyone with a PC is still waiting to hear when we can start playing GTA 6, however, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two has listed the game for consoles only right now. But that all might change soon as the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick teases GTA 6 launch on PC platforms while opening up about the PC market.

Till now, there’s no news about the GTA 6 release date. Zelnick says that we can expect it in fall 2025, but that is only for console players which leaves PC players in a doubtful situation. As per the news, we only know that the open-world game is only coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S right now, with no confirmed news of the computer release date.

Rockstar’s PC Release History

As we all know Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 all came to PC after initially releasing for consoles, so we are all predicting that GTA 6 will also follow this trend. While we all are waiting for the confirmation, however, Zelnick has teased how Take-Two’s approach to PC has changed, and what this could later mean for the game.

“So with Civ 7, it’s available on console and PC and Switch right away,” Zelnick tells IGN in a new interview. “With regard to others in our lineup, we don’t always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”

Zelnick was speaking about Civilization 7, Firaxis Games’ turn-based strategy title that launched on 11th February on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.

GTA 6 Will Boost PS5, Xbox Series S/X Sales

“We have seen PC become a much more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that trend continue. Of course, there will be a new console generation,” Zelnick continues.

The Take-Two CEO also believes that there’s going to be a big boom in console sales this year, undoubtedly due to GTA 6, but still he has eyes on the PC market. “I think the trend that you’d want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC.”

“When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles,” Zelnick said. According to him, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X sales will see a “meaningful uptick” in 2025 because of a busy release schedule.

While Zelnick hasn’t confirmed any date about when GTA 6 is coming to PC, but his words sound like he’s confident that Rockstar is working on the project and we can expect the PC version no sooner after the console release. Some analysts already predicted that the next Grand Theft Auto will generate over $1 billion in pre-order sales alone, so just think about how big the PC launch will be.
